I must say, even though I'm Jewish and had a very... *complicated* and traumatic relationship with Christianity growing up, I like your posts a lot! Your ability to find love and positivity in games I've heard so many others in the Christian faith denounce as literally Satan, *and to be able to back it up theologically,* is VERY impressive.

I probably won't be affixing a fish decal to my car anytime soon, but I did want to stop by and give you some encouragement. Despite me being more secular and you more religious, I believe our editorial missions are actually quite aligned—we're both trying to highlight the more positive aspects of gaming, both within the community and to others at large. We're just approaching it from different angles; and such diversity of perspectives can only enrich the gaming media ecosystem. It's part of what makes Substack so great.

It's also VERY refreshing to see a mainstream religious perspective on gaming that's equal parts gaming-positive, well-informed, and completely nonjudgmental—an unfortunately rare combination these days. No joke, you're literally the first evangelical Christian I've seen that plays D&D openly and without shame! And from a position of religious authority, no less.

It's much nicer to read than the fire-and-brimstone screeds I've sadly come to expect, that's for sure.

Keep up the good work, fellow gaming writer!

Thanks for the encouragement! I definitely believe there is much we can recover in the area of play and games for Christians. As Christians, we talk about freedom from sin in Christ, and sometimes, we only see that as productivity and efficiency (i.e. be a better person who does good work), but I also see that freedom is also reflected in our play and leisure. Whether it is video games or D&D, there is something we can reflect positively on. Thanks again for the encouragement! Keep up the good writing on your end also!
